Out of all the ones we have done these are the ones we feel are good first time hills with easy paths, and NO difficulty, we completed these with our kids, but please remember everyones opinions are different, we are going from our experience.

Parking- Lay-by in Wigton approximate postcode for Satnav is CA7 1HH; near Binsey cottage/lodge

Miles- 1.5 return

Ascent-170m approx

Terrain- Easy walking on grass, it is a little steep but straight forward

Suitable- Beginners,Toddlers, Baby carriers, Terrain prams with 2 people is possible.


 

HALLIN FELL 388M

Parking- Small car park on Martindale Hause above Howtown neartest post code CA11 0DS

Miles- 1 straight up and down

Ascent-156 m

Terrain - Steep but grass path, easy and short to follow

Suitable- Beginners, Toddlers, Baby carriers, Terrain pram possible with 2 people.


 

LITTLE MELL FELL 505M

Parking-Roadside at The Hause, the highest point of the minor road between Matterdale End and Watermillock.

Miles- 1.5-2 return walk

Ascent-120M approx

Terrain-Steep Grass paths, and easy to follow

Suitable- Beginners, toddlers, baby carriers



 

GREAT MELL FELL 537M

Parking-A rough surfaced lane located one mile north east from Matterdale End is the starting point of this walk

Miles- 2 circular approx

Ascent-270M approx

Terrain-Grass paths, stone paths, rough and boggy in some sections after rain but easy to follow.

Suitable- Beginners, Toddlers, Baby carriers


 

LATRIGG 368M

Parking-Spooney Green Lane roadside parking for the longer walk or Gale road car park CA12 4PH for the quicker walk

Miles 2-4 depending on route

Ascent-150-290m approx

Terrain- Forest trails and grass paths

Suitability- Beginners, toddlers, baby carriers, terrian pushchairs
